new Beach House, ‘Myth’

I know it’s been out on the interwebs for a few weeks now, but in case you haven’t heard it, Beach House has released a new track called ‘Myth,’ presumably off of their upcoming album, Bloom. Fans of their Teen Dream, fear not – this track does not set out into unchartered territory for the Baltimore duo. Instead, just as Teen Dream did following Devotion, ‘Myth’ builds more depth of sound into their, well, sound. Airy guitar strings scale up and down per the usual while layers of various percussion prod back and forth. All along Victoria Legrand’s breathy voice spreads overtop of it in signature style. Hopefully more to come soon because after a reasonable four minutes and change, the song is over and you’ll just have to listen again.

new Radiation City single, ‘Find It of Use’

Radiation City are set to be releasing an EP called Cool Nightmare comprised of tunes they’ve been writing of late as their tour makes its way to SXSW. This track off the EP is as reminiscent of their debut album, The Hands That Take Us, as it is foreign to it. Familiarly billowing crescendos of vaporous vocals slowly build up into clouds that catch the forceful wind of the exotic rhythm section. A welcome outro offers a reprisal of the jazzy mid-song bridge.

The song’s video is a nostalgic tribute to the road-travelin’ piano that the band decided to euthanize in grateful grace. You know, with sledgehammers, baseball bats, and other blunt objects. Observe the beautiful destruction below.
